History of the pub

It has been really hard finding out information about the history of this pub. From talking to the landlord and looking at the history of the house around it the building appears to date back to the turn of the century between 1900 and 1920. The pub had an extension to the left hand side of it around 20 years ago. There is a clear divide between old a new with the old covered in beams that the owners don't think are real and the new extension that only has a fireplace to add to its characteristics.

The pub is under the chain Wadsworth and this is how they have described The Cottage Inn on their website www.wadworth.co.uk:
'Nestled in picturesque countryside, The Cottage is popular with locals and visitors alike.
Open fires make for a cosy atmosphere in Winter, while in Summer it's a joy to spend time in the pub's pretty gardens.
The stunning Victoria Country Park and Hamble Marina are close by making The Cottage the perfect pit stop for light refreshments when visiting this beautiful area.
A meat draw is held every Sunday afternoon and Quiz Night is every Wednesday at 8.30pm.

The people of www.netleyabbeytartanarmy.net/pubguide.htm had this to say:
'The Cottage is a cosy wee boozer split into two bars, with low ceiling beams and loads of nick-nacks on the wall. Gives you a "pleasant drink in a country pub" vibe.'

The idea is to redesign the pub so it still is a "cozy boozer" and "country pub" just with a fresher interior.
